Mentor Graphics Announces New OnLine Knowledge Center
WILSONVILLE, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 8, 2002--Mentor Graphics
Corporation today introduced its customized Web-based training
offering.
The Mentor Graphics® OnLine Knowledge Center(SM) provides a
variety of technical training and product information including
self-paced courses that focus on a particular tool or design
methodology.
The first Web-based offering is a Calibre® DRC and LVS Debugging
course, which effectively teaches designers how to use the Mentor
Graphics Calibre software in their layout verification flow.
Additional courses will be introduced throughout the year.
The OnLine Knowledge Center was developed in collaboration with,
and will be hosted by TechOnLine, a provider of e-Learning solutions
and educational resources to the electronics community. The center is
backed by Mentor Graphics Education Services, which also provides
instructor-led training for EDA products, methodologies, and design
languages.
The OnLine Knowledge Center offers increased productivity for
customers by making it easy to attend training classes from anywhere
in the world. "As EDA tools and methodologies change and become more
complex, designers require immediate access to training without the
concerns associated with traveling, or the need to leave their job for
several days," stated John Fronius, Director of Worldwide Education
Services. "Mentor's new OnLine Knowledge Center provides customers
with additional training options and a way to access learning where
and when they need it."
"We are pleased to be collaborating with Mentor Graphics on its
new online learning center," said Derek Dunaway, CEO of TechOnLine.
"Mentor has taken the time to develop an online environment that is
conducive to learning as well as scalable to accommodate new features,
subject areas and functionality for their customers."
Customers accessing Mentor's OnLine Knowledge Center will find a
course catalog displaying all of the multimedia courses available, as
well as a learning plan to highlight recommended curricula for users.
The course content for Mentor's Web-based training is developed
specifically for the Web, as opposed to simply translating classroom
training to HTML. Each course contains both instructional pages and
in-line questions, with functionality for users to track their
progress and time spent on lessons. Hands-on lab exercises are also
available to reinforce concepts and solidify learning. To facilitate
the online purchase of Mentor courseware, TechOnLine built an
e-commerce capability into the OnLine Knowledge Center infrastructure,
and will fully support and maintain the functionality for Mentor.
